On this tour we will not only meet chimpanzees and gorillas, as well as lions and elephants, but also rhinos, which are almost extincted in the meantime. They are successfully bred in a heavily guarded sanctuary, to be settled in various national parks later. Silently and carefully you can approach the wonderful animals here.

Itineraries

Day 1

Drive from Kampala / Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park with stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

We will pick you up in the morning at the airport in Entebbe or at your accommodation in Kampala / Entebbe and drive  immediately to Murchison Falls National Park. On half of the way we stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, a heavily guarded sanctuary dedicated to the breeding of rhinos. With a ranger we  quietly walk to search for these critically endangered animals. We can watch them for some time and enjoy the presence of these fascinating animals. After this first impressive experience, we continue our drive to Murchison Falls National Park. We stay for the night within the National Park. Accommodation: Fort Murchison Lodge Meals: lunch and dinner Drinks: water while driving, other drinks not included

Day 2

Game Drive and Boat Cruise on the Nile

Early in the morning we start our first game drive. At this time chances are high to see lions, hyenas, leopards and jackals. But also other animals are even more active in the morning, so there is a high probability to see elephants, buffaloes, zebras, various antelope species, warthogs and giraffes. In the afternoon we take a boat trip on the Nile and approach the Murchison Falls upstream. At this point, the already quite wide Nile squeezes through a 7m bottleneck. Already this scenic spectacle is worth the boat trip. However, we also see hippos and the densest population of Nile crocodiles in Uganda. In addition we can observe other animals, which want to cool down at the water by the heat of the day. Day 3

Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Today we have a long drive to Kibale Forest National Park. During the trip we can get a glimpse into life in Uganda as we pass markets or see the herdsmen with their Ankole Longhorn cattle. Day 4

Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park and Bigodi Wetland Walk

Today we experience one of the highlights of the tour, the chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park. Together with rangers we go to find some of the approximately 1,500 chimpanzees. Usually we hear their calls and their drumming on tree trunks before we find one of the groups. We can spend an hour with the animals, taking lots of pictures and collecting as many memories as possible. In any case a look at the faces and the observation of the behavior within the group is an unforgettable experience. For those who would like to spend more time with the animals, there is the possibility for an extra charge to spend the whole day observing the habituation of other chimpanzees. With those who have opted for chimpanzee tracking, we'll go for a hike in the Bigodi Wetlands in the afternoon. We can observe many other animals, in particular birds, in the nearby wetland. Day 5

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Game Drive

Today we drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park and visit the southern part of the national park, where we can find lions climbing fig trees to rest and sleep. There are only two places in the world where they do so, and this is one of them. In addition to these unusual animals, we also have the chance to see elephants, buffalos, various antelope species and warthogs. Day 6

Game Drive and Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

We start early in the morning for another game drive. In the morning chances are high to see lions, leopards, hyenas and jackals. But all other animals are also more active in the morning, since the temperatures are still slightly lower. in the afternoon we take a different perspective and take a boat trip on Kazinga Channel, which is a natural connection of Lake Edward and Lake George. It has the world's densest population of hippos as well as a variety of Nile crocodiles, Nile monitors and waterfowl. With the rising temperatures of the day many animals come to the water and we can watch them while they cool off from the heat of the day. Day 7

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a stopover at Kitagata Hot Springs and Kabale

Today we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a stopover at Kitagata Hot Springs. They are said to have healing powers. Many people take a bath there and we can join them for a short time or just enjoy the area and inform ourselves about the springs. Then we continue to Kabale for our next stop. We visit the local market and some museums that inform about culture of the region. When wir resume our journey we enjoy the beautiful mountain scenery until we arrive at our accommodation near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Day 8

Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today we will face the most impressive experience of this tour, we meet the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. After a short briefing, we go with rangers to search one of the seven habituated gorilla families. This can take a bit longer and be a bit exhausting, but as a support porters are available on request. When we found "our" gorilla family, we can stay with the animals for an hour. We can admire the calm serenity of the silverbacks, which on the other hand have an immense power. We can watch the playful youngs exploring their world under the watchful eyes of their mothers. After this dreamlike encounter, we head for the most beautiful lake in Uganda, Lake Bunyonyi, where we can simply enjoy the beautiful surroundings. By the way, "Bunyonyi" means "place of many little birds" and the place lives up to its name. Day 9

Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe or Kigali in Rwanda
